So what would you guys think of No Shame T-shirts with the scary
head on them?

I concur with most people in preferring the head to the poodle.

Are there others with graphic skills interested in designing
posters?

NO SCARY HEAD T-SHIRTS!!!

Ratgirl, just because you and the Wombats have ego issues doesn't
mean you should trash them to the No Shame people who haven't even
had a chance to judge for themsemves.

How about a picture of George W. looking goofy with the words NO
SHAME stamped across his face. On the back the shirt could say
something like "This is America, anything goes!"* and in small
print we could have the exceptions to this policy, such as being
homosexual, environmentally aware, anti-government, etc. And of
course, we'd have the info for NO SHAME Theatre on there somewhere
too. This design doubles nicely as an artistic/political statement.

Amie

my intention of attending all the "No Shame Theatre" shows from

I must admit I was disappointed by the turnout last night. A
handful of the No Shame stalwarts weren't there, but I'm
wondering if something else is amiss. Negative word of mouth?
Plague of frogs? At any rate, here's the order. I'm in something
of a hurry today, so I'm not going to write up anything but the
titles and authors. Feel free to weigh in with your commentary.

0. Announcements and Order by Shannon McCormick. Shannon forces
what audience is there to pledge to their neighbors that they
will perform a piece at the next No Shame.

1. Hands and Beloved, by Heather Albrecht.

2. I Have a Problem, by Bob Apthorpe.

3. Evil in Our Presence, by David Husky.

4. Real Life, by Laurie Ann Poole.

5. A Failure to Communicate, by Mike D'Alonzo and Shannon
McCormick

6. John Hart and Fire, Fingernials, Hair, and Toes, by Erin
Bryan.

Cyndi Williams had a party last night, so maybe that's where
everybody was. (I wasn't there because I don't know where Cyndi
Williams lives.)

That sucks about the turnout. Unfortunately, the show I'm doing
is three hours long, so it's 11:30 by the time I get out of the
theatre.

I will be sending my good artist vibes to No Shame during my
forced hiatus. But I will be back, my pretties. I'll be back.

after an intense and grueling week of finishing up our puppets,
capped off by two amazing Well Hung Jury shows and a party to say
farewell to two of our beloveds, Amy McCurdy and 711, i think the
lot of us in WHJ were just plain out exhausted. Plus, we'd
already heard Bill do a new song earlier that day, and
hell...that's half the reason to go! But like i told Shannon
after the Catch 24 brilliance, i've been gone from No Shame for
too long and have backlogged some ideas...and to make up for my
absence, i'll try to get at least two of them ready for next No
Shame...

...and after this weekend, i just want to say how much i love the
power and passion of live theatre especially that special
anarchistic joy i get from improv. Here's a quick list of things
that are good.

Theatre is good.
Improv is good.
Puppets are good.
Rhythm is good.
Spaceships are good.
Black doo rags are good.
Mickey's Fine Malt Liquor is good.
Dicussing the nature and purpose of art and the iconographic
relevance of the superhero genre is good.
Neil Gaiman is good.
Brainstorming with Ben to figure out what superpowers each Jury
member would receive if we were all bombarded with cosmic rays, a
la the Fantastic Four (list forthcoming, once we finish it)
Big ass cans of Foster's are good.
Amy's daiquiris are good.
Launching Audrey into a backflip in a pool is good.
Being naked and chasing a naked Jeff chasing a clothed Audrey
carrying Jeff's boxers is good.
Jeremy lamenting his favorite boxers as they're rent from his
body is good.
Singing show tunes and being so drunk you forget the words is
good.
Getting so into a conversation that you don't notice the sun has
come up since you started is good.
Sleep is good.
Food is good.
Paying tribute to the woman who mentored you and taught you the
art of theatre is good.
Saying good bye to your friends properly is good.
Women are good.
Life is good.

That's a very long list. And that's just what was good this
weekend (or at least a list of highlights). Carry my blessings
as you enter the new week, each and every one of you crazy
bastards...be good and enjoy your lives and (as jeremy would say)
your bodies. Peace.

Actually, I was pretty surprised when I found out I wrote about
one sixth of Saturday's show. I'm still shocked that it went as
well as it did with no preparation and no practice time.

Of course, had I completed any of the three other things I planned
to do at this week's show and had I ignored Mike's question of
"You're doing something tonight, right?", I wouldn't have been
running around at the last minute. No matter. I had fun and purged
more of the Mexican wrestling theme that has been plaguing me for
the last few months. One or two more wrestler pieces and they
should be gone for a while.

One good thing was that three of my compatriots from the WCBH
Rookie Team (Peter, Maggie, and Shelley) were there. After the
show, Peter and I ducked off to a bar and knocked off about 8
scenes, some of which might be showing up at future No Shame
shows.

Regardless of the turnout, the show was inspiring. And hell, I got
in for free. Well, mostly...

I think it's great that we had not one but TWO poets to share
their verse. It's super to mix it up with the monologues and
duologues and dances. The variety is the spice of No Shame. I'm
glad that we pulled a show right from the brink of cancellation.
I did note that we did not appear in the AusChron in a separate
Performance category, but, along with the other theatre listings.
So, we cannot say we didn't have promotion for the show. Are we
listed in the AA-S as well for their weekend insert?

Seeing the posts in reply shows that this low turnout was just a
fluke and that performers do intend to return to do more No
Shames -- that people just had other conficts that particular
night and it hit all coincidentally. That's what you do when a
hard rain's gonna fall -- you "coincide." embarassed grin among
the groans

I myself have been having a personal crisis this week -- my hose
monsters of a couple of roomies not only stole $100 bill out of
my wallet (just before No Shame 8-4), but, also have evicted me
illegally (as my rent is paid up til 9-5) -- so I am homeless
with no job and precious little money. Any help possible from any
No Shamers, in the way of lodging or job referrals/contracts, so
I can get myself together and have a base of operations to
continue my job search? Any help at all is appreciated. I'll have
to sue the bastards in court and I have retained a lawyer for pro
bono work on the case.

Hello, No Shamers! Just wanted to promote my latest project, The
Gypsy Chain, produced by the dirigo group, and featuring me and
about 30 other performers of local fame and noteriety. The show
runs Thur-Sat until Sept. 1, with one more Sunday show August 19.
Show starts at 8PM and is playing at The Center for Mexican
American Cultural Arts, 600 River Street (just south of Ceasar
Chavez, one and a half blocks west of I 35). If you come, (and
everyone should make an effort), wear comfortable clothes and
make sure you're hydrated--it's hot in the space. The show is
three hours long with one intermission. I think the tickets are
$12. Check out the website at www.thegypsychain.com for more
info about the show and subject matter. This is a very ambitious
project, and everyone involved has been working since April to
bring this story to the stage. It's not perfect, but it's a very
moving and visually stunning piece. Come check it out!

For those who might be confused/unsure, we do have a show this
Saturday. Please come and tell all your friends.

I'm not sure when the date will be, but there is going to be a
Best of No Shame as part of MoMFest this year. This Saturday's
show will be the last regular season No Shame from which
material will be considered for Best of... So please come and
perform something really great.

In response to Amie's previous post, I thought Saturday was a
pretty good show. Not as many acts or audience as I would like,
but summer is almost over and I think everything will pick up
once people stop going away on vacation.

I don't have the order on me right now, but I'd love to hear
what other people thought of the show.

I'd also love to hear from all and sundry what pieces from our
ten No Shame shows they would like to see again at the Best of
No Shame next month. I, of course, have my favorites and
preferences, but the Best of show shouldn't simply be a
reflection of my personal taste. I'd love your imput on this.
Thank you.

Anyway, Amie, since no individual author will get more than one
piece into the show, do you have particular pieces by Ratgirl,
Bubble Boy, Bill (Prison Camp Party) Stern, or me that you would
like to see in the show? I'm taking your comments to mean that
you especially liked Hung Nguyen's piece "Gook as Sugar Toes the

Oh, yes, we MUST have Sugar Toes back. Has he been back since
then? Maybe he went home for the summer? Hung, where are you?

Hmmm. It seems like I've had to miss some of RG's coolest stuff
so I'd hate to narrow my choice down to one of the pieces I saw.

I think Bill's "Prison Camp Song" is a shoe-in, don't you?

As for Bubble Boy, I vote for re-visiting the magic of the first
piece he did.

I dug your Horn Pants, Big Shoe piece where they met the devil,
just because of the wierd sexual thing that happened witht he horn
and shoe.

And last, but not least, I'm including a vote for my "Cunt" piece,
just because that's the kind of gal I am. Plus, more people need
to experience the freedom of that kind of sing-along.

There were so many great things at No Shame (half of which I seem
to have missed) that I didn't really want to narrow my picks down,
but since you forced me to, there they are.

There actually already is a list of all the titles and artists on
the No Shame page. Go to the main Austin page and click on the
part that says No Shame archives. This will take you to a page of
all the No Shame pieces that we've had so far_except the show I

which I haven't put in the order.

And don't forget, we do have a show this weekend!

But, what is going to be IN the show if we've ended the regular
season? I am referring to Saturday Sept 1.

Just wondering if it's going to be a retread or new material or
what....????

Is it going to be deja vu all over again or a vision of the
future: vuja de??

PS I guess my No Shame flyer didn't "fly" after all. Didn't see
it posted on bull boards or anything. I have sent the jpg of it
to the webmaster for use in the Gallery but it's not in there
yet, either. ****pout pout****
