No Shame Poem Debbie DeMania 10:21 pm saturday october 13, 2001
I love No Shame theater; it's true.
Do I know what's playing? No clue.
But you can bet money
That it'll be funny
And Todd cuts his hair off for you.
The No Shame is great; can't you see?
Sometimes we get bad beer for free.
It's always a riot
where no one keeps quiet;
I think the weird crowd is the key.
So come to No Shame for a night;
I promise that you'll see the light-
Where else can you win
A baby with skin
That's not anatomic'lly right?
rant and nomination... James 9:38 am sunday october 14, 2001
After the "terrorist event" I'd pretty much been staying at home
and not making direct eye contact with anyone. But going out to
NoShame last night (October 12) was great. I wrote ENVELOPE this
past summer, and put off bringing it out. It actually makes a
lot more sense to me now than when I wrote it. A defense of fun,
people and their people-ways.
There was talk of a "best-of" NoShame event, and in the spirit of
Kenny Loggins, I'd love to see Todd do the Amateur Jesus
Impersonator piece again-- I've seen some amazing stuff over the
past few months, but this piece in particular had it all-- humor,
warmth, sadness, etc. That's my little vote.
Oh, the belly-dancer was cool too. If you can get her, let's
invite her back-- maybe I can get her phone number this time.
Excelsior,
James
No Shame of course Jane 2:15 am wednesday october 17, 2001
After closing Antingone on Sat. I've been going through
withdrawl, I miss everyone, even though I will see them again.
I'm such a sap.
I'm directing a school play, but at this point it feels like a
test not a play. If anyone has suggestions on how to get
teenagers to focus I'm open to suggestions.
I'm really disappointed that I have to miss No Shame this Friday
(it's homecoming and I have student council obligations) I've
become such an addict I'm afraid of what will happen, I may have
to do an impromtu piece out in the hallway for my friends to
satiate my cravings.
I feel as though I'm ramlbing, and that statement is usually a
sure sign that I am.
But I want to say that No Shame has been the catalyst that got
me to write and try to develop that skill. The people there are
outstandingly supportive, helpful and inspiring. I've gotten a
great deal of personal, intellectual, and spiritual growth from
coming that I'm going to be crazed to miss out. I hope you all
have a good time though.
I'm not sure what to nominate, but I'm thinking long and hard.

I second Neil's remarks, except I used to be on the board, and
I'm not now. And I'm not from Virginia, and I haven't told
anyone in Virginia about No Shame. So yeah! Go!

Nominations Annaliese 1:37 pm wednesday october 24, 2001
I hereby nominate Clinton Johnston's "confessioanl ode" UVA Girls.
No Shame nominations... Nif 8:01 pm thursday october 25, 2001
I'm seconding Annaliese's nomination for Clinton's "UVa girls"
song - completely cracked me up!
Also, much as I'm flattered, I must ask to be withdrawn from
nomination for the Best of No Shame show this year. I had knee
surgery last month, and won't be able to perform for awhile yet.
However, the reason I had the surgery is so that I CAN perform
again, better than ever! ;-) I hope to see you all in 2002 for
the innovative dance/spoken word stuff that I'm plotting...

Nominations Lee 8:27 pm friday october 26, 2001
As I try to think about nominations for the Best of No Shame, I'm
struck by the horrible feeling that what works so well in the
intimate lab space may just get lost in all that Main Space, and
that Todd and Clinton may just be up there all night (not that
there's anything wrong with that).
That said, I would nominate:
________________________________________________________________
The Wolf Family for "A Man and his Soundtrack"
Jay and Alice for their fine "T-Rex in C'Ville"
and just to up the goofiness, profanity, sex and violence:
last week's serialized section of Puberty Shriek - The Werewolf
Play, where a bespangled Annaliese ties up a heroin-using Clinton.
I am unsure which part of Todd's memoirs I like best...
But surely you all can help him pick one.
________________________________________________________________
Am I right in thinking that the "Best Of..." will be rehearsed
within an inch of its life and actually have a director? Perhaps
I'm a dreamer...
See you No Shamers tonight.
