was fantastic. Really enjoyed all the pieces, and nice to see

genius, IMHO.

I think we had an amazing No Shame on Friday. All the pieces were extremely strong. I especially enjoyed the Moorish Dancers, that was rad. I want to thank everyone for thier support during my piece. I felt a little wierd about it on stage, like I was a prop. But I think it turned out really well, and I'd like to know you're thoughts. Special thanks to Annaliese.

Re: 3/1/01
Oh Jane!

You are a joy. And Joan tells me that it's Nat'l Woman's Month (or words to that effect). Your piece would seem an excellent intro to that theme.

Perhaps it will be a evocative as the Black History Month that came before it- though Joan tells me that after I embarrassed my brothers in the hood, there's no way I'm gonna be deputized as an honorary woman...

Every time we drive by Culpeper I think how hideous a commute you northerners have...

The dancers were not Moorish Dancers (I love that thought for Othello and Black History Month though!).

Rather, they were Morris Dancers, and their timing seems apt: "The bells, which are most characteristic of Cotswold Morris dancers, keep the rhythmic character of the dance as they embody the magic of the dance itself. The sounds of bells and clashing staves are meant to drive winter from the ground and ensure a bountiful harvest."

I agree that the regular No Shame was very fine.
The energy of the audience was great, and it was nice to see a combination of seasoned No Shamers and New Shamers...

Looking forward to this Friday...

Spotlight??
Todd,
I was wondering if I could use a spotlight for a piece I'd like to perform this upcoming Friday (the 15th). Would that be alright or are the spotlights off limits?

Re: Spotlight??
What spotlight were you thinking of? The one Sean used at Best of No Shame for the Angry Suburban Poet and Discount Bob or something else? There are some others -- I can show you what's available if you show up a bit early (10:30 or so) on Friday. UNLESS we don't have the light board this week -- Todd told me that the board might be missing one Friday b/c it's going into the shop for maintenance. It was there this past Friday, so it might be this Friday that we don't have it. Better come early on Friday, for sure, and we can see what we've got.

Thanks ...

Subj: BoardRoom: new Message Boards
From: NoShTh@aol.com
Time: Wed, 13-Mar-2002 08:56:44 GMT IP: 172.163.131.62

Althought I think we might have been able to work around
some of the problems with the new boards, I have not
figured out a way around the profanity filters, and as you
probably know, adult language is frequently relevant and
appropriate to discussions of No Shame. So for the time
being the new boards are being abandoned, and we will
resort to the old boards until such time as a suitable
replacement can be set up.

Rest assured we are, in fact, working feverishly on such a
replacement even as we speak, and hopefully it will be up
soon.

In the meantime, please note the following temporary
change in message board policy:

Any posts to these boards which are abusive, fraudulent,
libelous, spamulous or otherwise harmful, will be deleted
without comment.

In addition, any posts which do not contain a *valid email
address* and appear to be frivolous, misleading, irrelevant
or otherwise uninformative, will also be arbitrarily edited.

As always, No Shamers who *do* provide a correct email
address in their posts should feel free to be as frivolous and
irrelevant as they please. But not abusive and fraudulent.

If you feel that someone has falsely posted to this board
using your identity. (Or if YOU have posted and would like to
have your message removed for whatever reason) Simply
write to NOSHTH@AOL.COM *from your correct email
account*, stating that the message in question should be
deleted, and it will be removed at the first possible
opportunity.

My apologies for any inconvenience these recent changes
have caused you, and I hope to have the new boards up as
soon as possible.

...Jeff

Oh the Humanity.

Last night's No Shame was boggling.
All that music (I liked Mendy's song in particular), all those
institutions (high school, college, mental hospital, prison, No
Shame itself), and the rockin' acoustic Bard o' Avon.

Amazing when you consider the dearth of music in previous weeks.
The people who don't come regularly can't have any idea what
they're missing. Heaven knows it defies prediction.

Cheers,

I think that it would be great to have a Director for Best Of.
There seems to be a desire for feedback on the part of many No
Shamers, and I think any director with experience (Todd and Clinton
leap to mind) would be able to help more inexperienced No Shamers
make their pieces that much better.

I'm flattered to have Todd nominate my piece without the luxury of
sufficient hindsight, but to actually have a little feedback as to
the whys and wherefores would be very helpful.

If not a director, then at least a discussion with the other Best
Of folks where some mutual critique goes on. Having seen some
conversation and critique after The Puberty Shriek reading, I think
it would help me a lot.

Thanks,
       Lee
