Tough Love

By: Pookman

There is a table with two chairs; one on either end. Andy is in one chair, and Daddy is in another. The Narrator stands to the far left or right of the stage.

Lights up.

NARRATOR: The following is the true story of how I learned not to rock on two legs of a chair.

(Andy is slightly rocking on two legs of his chair.)

DADDY: Andy, don’t rock back on your chair.

(Andy tips back slightly further on the two legs of the chair.)

DADDY: Don’t rock back on your chair, Andy.

(Andy just looks at Daddy.)

DADDY: I mean it.

(Andy rocks a few more times and falls backwards hitting the ground powerfully. Andy begins to whimper/curse/bawl.)

DADDY: Aw, come here. (Motions Andy over. Andy comes.) There, there. (Smacks Andy hard on the back of his head.) (Shouting.) What the hell is wrong with you?

NARRATOR: And I never did it again.

Lights down.
