PULL THE PLUG

I say:
Pull the plug
On Israel
Before she
Pulls the plug
On us!

Caught in
Tit-for-tat struggle
Of Biblical proportions

never ending
ever expanding
eye for an eye
tooth for a tooth
"You strike me once,
I strike you twice!"

A horrible chain reaction
That will bring
The end
Of the world.

And whose
Idea was
Israel
To begin with?
To put
A bunch of
Displaced Jews
On
Stolen land
Surrounded by
Angry Arabs?

ours
and
the Brits'

Yes
The Brits
Took a
Sword
To the
Map
And carved
Countries
Out of the
Endless stretches
Of nomadic
Sands

Yes
They carved up
The Middle East
And told
Wandering
Arab tribes
Whose land
Was whose
And then
They established
The oil industry
There
And . .

the rest
is history

Making you
Wonder
If . .

it
was all about
oil
to begin with?

Is that why
We put Israel
There?

So
They could steal
More land
For themselves
And
Create
More angry Arabs
And
More blood feuds
That will outlast
Us all
Unless
They kill us
First

And
We could
Support all this
To ease
Our own
Guilt
Over
Letting the
Nazis
Eradicate
Half their
Race

Sending how many . .

Sigmund Freuds
Albert Einsteins
Elie Wiesels
Marx Brothers
Al Jolsons
Aaron Coplands
Irving Berlins
Benny Goodmans
Isaac Sterns
&
Allen Ginsbergs

Up in smoke?
How might
The world
Be different
Today?
How much better
Might it be?

But
Maybe
It was really
About
Having a
Bought-and-paid-for
Ally
Amongst
All those
Volatile Arabs
Who control
All that
Oil

The only
Answer
The Israelis
Give you
When you ask them
"Why all the bloodshed?"
Is . .

they did
such-and-such
to us!

Well . .

such-and-such
and
such-and-such
goes all the way back

To Christ
And
Christ
Didn't preach . .

eye for an eye
tooth for a tooth

But . .

turn
the
other
cheek

Because . .

He
knew
where
revenge
takes
the
world

It ends it.

So
We send
Good blood
After
Bad blood
With no
End in sight

And the . .

musicians
composers
writers
poets
mathematicians
scientists
doctors

In Israel
Are locked in
Mortal struggle
To protect their
Fabricated homeland
Not knowing where . .

the next bomb
the next suicide bomber
the next Arab uprising
the next Scud missile

Will explode
Or when it might
Kill them all

So I say:
Pull the plug!
Yes
Pull the plug
On . .

this endless battle
this territorial grab
this military meltdown
this bloody nightmare
this genocide
this shooting children
this holy war
this holocaust

That's turned
Artists and geniuses
Into
COMMANDOS

Stop sending them
Our billions
To fund their
Slaughter
I say:
Pull the plug
On their
Sandbox war!

Let them turn
Their bullets
Into pens
And
Their blood
Into ink
And
Their suffering
Into art

Evacuate
Those who
Can make
The world
A better place
Set them loose in . .

Paris
Vienna
London
Rome
Stockholm
Tokyo
New York

The great cities
Of the world

So they can . .

make music
compose symphonies
pen novels
create poetry
solve theorems
invent things
save lives

Instead of
Taking them.

Yes
Redeploy the Jews!
Free them
From this
Tit-for-tat
Rat-a-tat
That goes

ad infinitum
ad nauseum

Until it
Brings an end
To the world

Free them . .

to help us
to raise us up
to transcend
our savagery

Not succumb to it
And descend into
The bloody muck of
REVENGE

I say:
Pull the plug
On Israel
Before she
Pulls the plug
On us!
