"Pilgrims Of Eden"
Lyrics by Cory Capron music by Annalise Lovelace
Performed by Side Effects 12/19/03

We crawled on our knees, preying to a flashing sign
In a land where the devils, take on forms so divine
Deforming the sacred, and stealing all our time
We Pilgrims of Eden, we were left lost behind

We met in the village, of the lost and the cold
Where ivory towers clasp, to a land they can't hold
Strange lands and strange oceans, they shined through our eyes
We pilgrims of Eden, how we reached for the skies

The river grew wide, and it's current grew fast
Lovers grew distant, till just a thing of the past
We sought out oracles, to foresee our black fate
We pilgrims of Eden, rapping the bars of the gate

Atrocious deeds, swept under still do thrive
When content's the question, and intent is benign
And these tongueless poets, are burred in the road
As we pilgrims of Eden, leave are hearts to corrode

(Bridge)
Through the blood trickle of darkness to a sea that shines like chrome
I'm with good company, but I still feel alone
But I still feel alone
Oh, but I still feel alone

Well I've tasted love, but then I let it pass
I passed it on to the ones, I knew could make it last
And I hear her voice sometimes, carried over the sound
Oh we pilgrims of Eden, we'll never see all we've found

CORY'S NOTES:
Another song I wrote last year (2002). One of the best things about being in a band now is that a lot of my best work simply could not translate into the stomping blues routine I do on my own. There were a lot of muses in my life back then, I ended up writing this whole body of works. I've written another body since then and am working on a third now. It's really a blast to hear all this dust-covered stuff coming to life now.
